Daybreak

–by Dr. Parijat De

–Reading Time – 2 min Approx

I woke up in dawn today

With daylight yet to show up in the horizon,

Chirping of birds seemed music to my ears

I soaked in a pleasure hitherte unknown

I’ve always been a late riser

For I go to bed quite late,

I love so much the stillness of night

Till now, it’s been my faithful mate.

Today it was all different

As I now not the charm of daybreak –

A pleasant feeling engulfed me soon

Enticing me to go out on trek.

Ambling across to the foot of the hill

I rounded it from a side to gaze at the dale,

The first streaks of light were about to appear

The nature, it seemed, still wore its veil.

And then that wondrous sight burst forth

As ochre coloured rays swept everything around!

Nature rose up in its resplendent glory

With soft breeze producing a murmuring sound .

Words are indeed of little avail

To paint for you a picture of that scene

Nature is the canvas for that painter laureate

Was all that I could glean.

I walked along the aisles of the meadow

Everywhere there’s a riot of colour,

Sweet smell of flowers wafted in the air

Creating a surreal atmosphere.

Dews could be touched on petals

Roses appeared to have been just born,

Thus I was greeted this morning

By my new found friend- the dawn.
