The art and aesthetics of Papia Ghoshal, the feisty creator of canvasses that go beyond mere prettification, deserve a detailed analysis. Her paintings have an eclectic quality, particularly in terms of form, combining mythological motifs with folk forms and rustic landscapes.
“There is nothing wrong with that. It’s hard when you have no habit, but over time, you’ll surely develop it. Think about the parents: they may be at odds with each other, feel bad, be busy or tired. But for the sake of their child, they forget about all this. If the child feels fine, they feel fine, too. This is how the natural state of harmony is achieved.
You can do the same toward neighbors, partners, and even strangers. Care is all what matters!
“A round moon rose behind me and lit up the all-encompassing sea like a shining silver sheet”. These lines from the poem ‘Invisible target’ almost paint the sea, the moon, the man on a canvas. It is like the poet takes along with him, his reader in this moon-soaked beach. But while they are in this journey, the poet gives them freedom to loiter around the shores of anguish, pain, longing that rise and falls like waves on the human minds.
To a person like me who is familiar with Prof Chatterjee’s poems, the twist in the end that many of his poems have, is a thing most looked forward to.
And finally, after about 15 years of that report, came this film – GUMNAMI. Its not just about Subhash Chandra Bose – The Legend / The God of Indian Freedom Struggle. It is about us. The Indians, whose freedom he fought for. It is about us, what have we done to Netaji. What have we done to his sacrifice – his own people, his family, his fellow comrades?
