A foreigner from China, its vehicle are humans,
it hitched its ride for free, travelled to US ,UK and Italy.
We watched it float with glee,
kept our airports open and played Holi.
Like the invaders from nations,
it made its way through aeroplanes.
We shut our shops and homes,
alas! Our locks were of no help.
For it so tiny to hop skip and jump in,
it watched with glee as we fought with fear.
The Kanika Kapurs, the street vendors,
the Markaz and the homeless passengers.
Undeterred we banged the bells lit lamps to scare it away.
It made us jobless or cut short our earnings,
we hoarded the essentials and prayed for vaccines.
Vaccines are out but none is sure it’s for whom?
Everyone is on road and Policemen are clueless,
it has indeed become our friendly neighborhood.
