By the beginning of the Meiji era in the late 19th century, all martial art forms in Japan including Kyūdō saw a massive decrease as the Samurai lost its status. Later, with the All-Japan Kyudo Federation, it was brought back to life. New regulations and guidelines were published and it started with new popularity.
The game of aikido is about mental training along with physical training. So, the movements in it signify the same.
Nowadays, in different schools, different styles of aikido are practiced. Many other different practitioners are Kisshomaru Ueshiba, Koichi Tohei, Morihiro Saito, Steven Seagal, etc. However, people enjoy watching and practicing diverse styles of aikido.
Talking about the history of iaido, it was started in the middle of the 1500s. As per the available documents, Hayashizaki Jinsuke Shigenobu is considered the organizer of iaido. Since then, many koryu or schools have introduced the martial art form. Some of the schools still practice it today.
The game of sojutsu and the use of yari became highly popular after the Mongol invasion in the 13th century. In later days, the Japanese modified the tops of the spears as per their requirements. Some new styles are developed to make them compatible with on-foot games. And some are designed for fighting from horseback. Although it was practiced in nearly 450 schools in ancient days, it is rarely found in recent days. However, nowadays, it is practiced in several Japanese Bujutsu Ryu and Ninjutsu schools.

Nowadays, two types of games with under naginatajutsu are common. One is Shiai-kyōgi and another one is engi-kyōgi. The first one includes individual efforts and team matches. Teams usually have four-five members. On the other hand, engi-kyōgi includes two pairs of opponents. Both of them perform different techniques of the game and try to defeat one another.
Although it was started as a self-defense technique, now, its scope is broader than that. Nowadays, jujutsu is practiced as a sports form and as a major self-defense technique. It is also played as an Olympics sport. However, the sport form is similar to judo, another combat form influenced by the traditional form of jujutsu.
It includes a wide range of swordsmanship styles which are non-combative majorly. According to the practitioners, it is a game to inculcate spiritual harmony within an individual. It develops a high sense of intellect, willpower, and sensitivity.
It is said that the first iron sword was manufactured in Japan in the fourth century. Mainly based on the technology imported from Korea and China, swords became an indispensable part of their lives.
